Canada Visa
How to Apply for a Visa for the African Business Conference in Canada?
Getting a Canadian visa to attend events or conferences like African business conferences is not so hard. If you stay in Canada or live in a visa-exempt country, you do not have to go through the complexity of the visa application process. However, those planning to attend the conference as an international attendee need to apply for a visitor visa.
Whether you are living, studying, working, doing business, or simply visiting Canada, you can attend our upcoming African business conference in Canada with a travel visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
How to Apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)
A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) works as a travel visa issued by the Canadian visa authority for those who want to enter Canada for a valid reason. Suppose you are planning to attend the conference from outside of Canada. In that case, you can apply for a TRV by completing registration online or visiting the Canadian embassy or consulate in your country.
You must fulfill certain requirements such as financial capability, valid reason for going, etc. You’ll find more about these requirements on the official IRCC website.
Necessary travel documents such as bank statements, accommodation copies, and invitation letters from the conference organization would make the process easy. So, do not forget to bring these documents when you submit your paper at the embassy or consulate office in your country.
However, visa approval can take time to approve since they will review all the documents case by case. We recommend you apply for the visa at least 12 weeks before the date of the conference.
Please be sure that any special event code given by the IRCC will not help with visa approval. It merely helps visa officers to recognize the events. So, it is important to apply for the visa accurately with the required valid documents.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
If you are from a visa-exempt country, you no longer need to apply for a travel visa (TRV) to enter Canada. According to the law, visitors from visa-exempt countries can easily travel to Canada by applying for Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Visitors with valid Canadian passports, temporary residents, students, or workers do not need to go through the eTA process to join African business conferences or events in Canada.
Similarly, Canadian citizens who want to enter Canada after visiting the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon will not fall into this category. That means they can easily enter Canada without eTA requirements.
Business Visitor to Attend the Conference
Potential buyers, investors, or stakeholders can join the conference by applying for a travel visa (TRV) or eTA. Whether those business people are Canadian citizens, have Canadian passports, or are temporary residents, they may need an invitation letter for a business visit from the conference organizer in Canada.
The invitation letter should include the following details:
- Purpose of the visit (e.g., attending a business conference, meeting, events, etc.)
- Dates of the visit
- Name and contact details of the invited person
- Information about the individual or organization that hosts the conference
- Accommodation details of the invited person
- The leaving date of the invited person from Canada
N.B: Please note that a letter of invitation is just one part of the visa application process. Visa approval is not guaranteed upon that.
Minor Children to Visit the Conference in Canada
Many participants tend to bring their families, including children under 18 years of age, who are considered minors in Canada. If you want to bring your children to the conference, you need to prepare a separate visa and required documents for them.
Important documents may include a birth certificate, proof of guardianship, letter of authorization, etc. If a child under 18 wants to travel alone, they may require one of their parent’s passports, the contact details of their parents or legal guardian, and the contact details of their local guardian in Canada.
